Educational Assessment

This assessment is recommended to investigate the nature of learning difficulties and identify specific learning disorders (e.g. dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, etc.), giftedness, or complex learning/behaviour needs.

What does it assess?

Our educational assessment measures:

the cognitive abilities known to be beneficial to learning (e.g. verbal comprehension, visual-spatial processing, fluid reasoning, working memory, and processing speed, etc.)

social-emotional-behavioural factors (e.g. attention difficulties, anxiety, social communication difficulties, etc.)

academic abilities (e.g. reading fluency and comprehension, spelling and writing fluency, mathematical fluency, calculation, and problem solving, oral comprehension, understanding, and recall, etc.)

can be used to determine whether the child meets the DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria for Global Developmental Delay (GD), Intellectual Disability (ID), and/or Specific Learning Disorders (e.g. dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, etc.)

What does it include?

Our educational assessment includes:

parent intake interview

provision of a cognitive assessment, such as the WISC-V, WPPSI-IV, WAIS, or Woodcock Johnson IV Test of Cognitive Abilities, depending on child's age

provision of an educational assessment, such as the Woodcock Johnson IV, WIAT-III, or CTOPP-2, depending on child's age

administration and scoring of standardised behavioural screening questionnaires

correspondence with the child’s teacher

parent feedback session

comprehensive report including results of assessment, detailed recommendations for appropriate classroom strategies, any relevant diagnosis, and recommendations for appropriate intervention supports or further assessment
