April Jones

Occupational Therapist and Speech Pathologist (Independent Consultant)

April is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist (SPA) and is also a registered Occupational Therapist (AHPRA) and a member of OT Australia. April is dedicated to maintaining pace with evidence-based practice while incorporating a flexible and personalised service delivery approach to meet the needs of each child at Futures in
Mind. April works with children and young people aged 12 months to 18 years of age.

April is a neurodivergent therapist and her personal and professional training informs her practice with clients. At FIM April works from a strengths-based approach to learning. Each child’s unique skills and differences are embraced, strengths-based wins are celebrated and areas of needs are supported and developed. April understands that it is building connections that effect changes – connections with children, their families and other important people in their lives including schools and peer groups.

April considers the input of family and other supporting people integral to the success of the child’s development each step of the way- from assessment to goal setting, to intervention and review. Some children may only need Speech Therapy support for a short period of time whereas others may need it for longer, and FIM eagerly accompanies each child along their journey with families.

April is trained across Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology domains. Some of these include DIR Floortime (early communication), LEGO-based therapy (social competence and peer bonding), and gold standard frameworks including Sounds-Write (Literacy), and Responsive Feeding Therapy Australia (Paediatric feeding).

Qualifications: Bachelor Occupational Therapy, Master of Speech Pathology

Please note, Futures In Mind is not currently taking new clients for ongoing Speech Therapy. We do have availability for Speech Pathology Assessments.
